Dear First-Year Students,
As members of Lehigh’s Fraternity and Sorority community, we want to invite you to explore joining one of our chapters personally. Becoming involved in Greek Life at Lehigh means more than just joining an organization; it means finding a home, building lifelong friendships, and growing as a leader.
Fraternity and Sorority membership gives you the chance to get involved on campus, give back to the community through service and philanthropy, and develop professional skills that will support you long after graduation.
We encourage you to consider participating in recruitment to learn more about Greek Life and the impact it can have on your Lehigh experience. You can find more information below about each council.
Cultural Greek Council:
The Cultural Greek Council is made up of six hard-working chapters founded as culturally based organizations. There are currently three sororities on the council: Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., & Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. Along with three fraternities, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Lambda Sigma Upsilon Fraternity Inc., & Phi Sigma Chi Multicultural Fraternity, Inc. Each organization is built on its own unique principles that make them thrive within and outside the Lehigh community. Students interested in a specific organization can attend programmatic and informational sessions advertised by that organization.
One of the many aspects that make the Cultural Greek Council different from other councils is the structured processes and specific timelines for membership intake. Membership intake can take place in either the Fall or Spring semester, depending on the chapter. Each organization was founded in response to racial segregation; each founder saw something missing on their campus and created a community for themselves and those who followed. The goals of our council include empowering individuals of color, serving the community and engaging with the Lehigh community, providing a platform for students of color to voice their thoughts, and emphasizing cultural awareness across campus.
Some of our traditions include stepping, strolling, and saluting, which are seen at our Yard Show, held every semester. Our council is filled with active, driven members of the Lehigh Community. Not only are we present in the Greek community at Lehigh, but also in clubs, offices, and other organizations on campus. This not only shows how well-rounded our members are but also the leadership roles we all partake in. Professional growth, networking, and lasting brotherhood/sisterhood beyond Lehigh graduation are provided through our organizations. Interfraternity Council:
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is comprised of ten unique chapters, each built upon the core values of brotherhood, service, leadership, and scholarship. Each chapter carries a unique sense of community, each carrying its own individual values that it upholds at Lehigh. The IFC community strives to ensure inclusive, mutual-interest recruitment and hopes to provide opportunities for individuals to find a sense of belonging within any organization.
The IFC community is one that uplifts every member to be their best self. Members of the IFC are outstanding campus leaders, integrated members of the Lehigh and Bethlehem community, and students committed to academic excellence and personal growth. Whether they are presidents of student organizations, orientation leaders, conducting research, or volunteering in the Lehigh Valley, IFC members strive to uphold their core values.
Joining an IFC organization is a commitment not only to your chapter but also to the Lehigh Greek community: a commitment to be accountable and the best version of yourself. However, the payoffs are high! You open the door to a strong network of capable individuals, both in and outside the chapter you affiliate with. Leadership opportunities are easy to come by, and professional development is a natural part of membership.
Speaking from experience, joining the IFC was one of the best decisions I have made during my time at Lehigh. I met my closest friends in this community, have developed immensely as a leader, gotten job and internship referrals, and have fulfilled my sense of service to the Lehigh community. I hope you consider joining this community and see what makes it so great!

Panhellenic Council:
The Panhellenic Council is composed of eight amazing chapters built upon the foundational principles of philanthropy, sisterhood, and community. Together, we represent nearly 800 women, making the Panhellenic community the largest women’s organization on Lehigh’s campus.
As a council, we strive to nurture and uphold a community of intelligent, driven, and compassionate women. Being in a sorority is so much more than the letters we wear, it’s the opportunity to be part of something greater than yourself.
Panhellenic women are involved in every corner of campus life. You can find them competing on Lehigh Athletics teams, serving on Student Senate, writing for The Brown & White, conducting research, performing in Lehigh’s musical ensembles, and so much more. Through Panhellenic, you’ll find connection, leadership, and lifelong friendships that will shape your college experience and beyond.
When you choose to Go Greek, you’re not just joining one chapter; you’re joining an entire network of women who uplift, challenge, and empower one another. Joining this community has been one of the most meaningful parts of my Lehigh journey, and I hope you’ll take the opportunity next semester to discover what makes Panhellenic so special.
